In this vRealize Operations Manager Installation Series i will guide you through the different steps in the setup process of VMware vROps. There are different choices to make in the setup process which you can see in the different parts. The environment used for this tutorial consists the following VMware versions:
- vSphere 7.0
- vRealize Operations Manager 8.1.1
Always check with the VMware Product Interoperability Matrices if the components are compatible with each other.

Deployment methods
When it comes to deploy the first appliance you can choose between two methods. Deploying an OVF template (either manual or automated) or deploying the appliance through vCenter without downloading a template first. Both methods have some pros and cons:
OVF-Deployment
The OVF-Deployment, which i will guide you through in VMware vRealize Operations Manager Installation Series – Part 2, has more customization capabilities when it comes to the size of the appliance.
vCenter-Deployment
The vCenter-Deployment, which i will guide you through in VMware vRealize Operations Manager Installation Series – Part 3, is easier to deploy, no OVF file has to be downloaded, but has fewer options for the appliance size.
